Here’s some watercolors from earlier this month. One tight and one loose. I’ve spent most of the year working in watercolors. I tried an oil painting and man I’m rusty. It’s a completely different animal than watercolor. A goal for next year is to definitely work more in oils. Hopefully there will be one more before the new year.
Watercolor jack o’ lanterns. Bonus, that was the last page of this sketchbook.
Here’s a copy after Dürer that I did last week. It’s watercolor, gouache, and charcoal. It looks nothing like the original. Oh well.
He’s a watercolor I did the other night based off an old vintage Halloween decoration that I remember hung in some of my classrooms as a kid.
I keep going back and forth on this new sketchbook I got for Christmas. It’s a Stillman & Birn beta series book. I’m a huge fan of the alpha ones as my workhorse sketchbook, this one I’m not so sure of. Here is a sketch I did in watercolor in that book. Maybe I’m wrong only more work will tell.
I’ve finally got around to updating the layout of my website. It’s not completely finished but it’s moving in the right direction.
Lets see what else? The painting a day thing went off the rails sometime around March. I’ll post those paintings here sometime soon. It ended up being no fun. I found myself trying to do the least amount of work just to fulfill my requirements for the painting for the day.
I’ve also been working on a kids book with my better half. That project has taken me completely out of my comfort zone. I’m not sure is that’s a good thing or a bad thing right now.
Here is an image from the book project.
Another watercolor on board.
Another watercolor on board. These are strange to paint on but fun. Landscape this time.
I found some watercolor board sitting in a drawer. I figure this could be fun to use. I think there are three of them so the next few paintings will be watercolor on board.
